Future soccer star?
Michaela had her first day of soccer camp today. She had a GREAT time at the camp and came home very enthusiastic. A good thing! We picked up socks for her to wear under her shin guards on our way home. Had her try on a sock and then showed her how the shin guard goes over top. She then had to put the other sock on, as well as the other guard, and wore them around the house for a while. Shame she doesn't like it. ;) Here she is, striking a soccer pose. "It's like a ball is coming at me," says the next Mia Hamm.

Silly music
So, I'm sitting here working on the List for this coming week. Logan woke up about 15 minutes ago, so a quick diaper change and a cup of vanilla rice milk and he's a happy camper. I turn on the tv to Playhouse Disney and the Wiggles are on. He LOVES the Wiggles. It's the one show he will actually sit/stand/dance and watch. So, as I type in new entries for work, I find myself moving my body in time to "Toot toot! Chugga chugga! Big red car..." And now he's sitting watching Captain Feathersword, a less than swashbucklin' swashbuckler of a pirate, dance around with his, yes, you got it - feather sword. I have no idea what the fascination is, aside from watching 4 grown Australian men dance and be silly. Apparently, that's good enough for him, because he now is laughing at their antics.
Aside from the Wiggles fascination, he's doing well. We think he has some dairy intolerance, as every time he'd have a cup of milk or bowl of yogurt, he'd end up having sour spit up. Earlier this week, I decided to test this out and picked up the vanilla rice milk mentioned earlier and soy yogurt. He's had some dairy - spoonfuls of his sisters' Frosty milkshakes and portions of mac & cheese. But... the sour spit up has stopped. So, we'll be finding ways to incorporate good fat into his diet, as well as make sure he gets all the vitamins, calcium, etc he needs to grow big and strong.
On another note, we had an incident yesterday. Thankfully, there was no ER visit... The girls were playing with their brother in his room, while I was in our room working on our closet. Long story short, in an effort to keep Logan from touching his vertical fan, Ava thought it would be best to push her baby brother. he fell and I have no idea what he hit, but hit it he did and ended up with a C shaped gash on the back of his head. Michaela was freaking out over the blood and I swore she was going to hyperventilate. Kept telling her to breathe and calm down. (Needless to say, I don't think a certain someone will be a doctor when she grows up...) I know Ava felt horrible - she didn't say a word; didn't make a face. Dead giveaway for her when she knows she's done something very very wrong. He's a trooper (or as his daddy likes to say, "He's a Cooley.") and bounced back from the incident quite well.
Last note on the boy. He IS a boy. Boy oh boy... At this point, there is a striking difference between him and the girls as babies. He's so physical - from climbing every chance he gets to the tantrums. And the tantrums, woo! Change his diaper - he arches his back and rolls himself over, screaming the entire time. Sometimes, I get lucky and am able to entertain him briefly enough to get the job done. That's rare. And wipe his nose? HELL NO! Well, I imagine that's what he's thinking as he cries and moves his head violently from side to side, making every attempt to avoid the tissue that Mommy wants to wipe his nose with.
The girls... Michaela is thrilled to be starting soccer camp on Monday. She's so excited!!! I've also found a local league that she can play with this fall, so once we know how she likes soccer, we'll sign her up if she wants. Mike might help coach - still waiting on info from one of the league people.
Ava has completed her first gymnastics class. She LOVES it and, based on her teachers, is quite good! She's super excited, as this Wednesday will be her first Developmental class. Previously, she did the Tumble Tykes program, an intro to gymnastics for children 3-5 years old. Now, she'll be with other kids her age and really get into the nitty gritty of it all. It's so much fun watching her! She has no fear and loves trying everything she's shown.
Well, I made this a huge one and didn't mean to... I need to get back to work, as we have plans to go to the pool this afternoon as a family.

Anniversary
Hard to believe it's been nearly 8 years that Mike and I have been married. We'll be going out to dinner with the kiddos on Tuesday to celebrate. However, we also were able to go to a wedding reception for some friends of ours (thank you, Lauren, for watching the kiddos!!) out in Lancaster. Since it's a very rare occasion that the two of us get dressed up, Lauren snagged a picture of us before we left. We had a nice time, visiting with friends, and seeing how happy the newly married couple was. My hubby even asked me to dance! :)

Tenacity

Logan and I are toddling around the cloverleaf pool at Linvilla.

We were on the far side, just to the left of where the fountain is spraying up. Logan spies a bright red plastic fire truck. Said fire truck was being "driven" by a young boy, maybe 3 or 4 years old. The boy catches Logan coveting the truck (he might have heard Logan grunt as he hustled towards the truck & the boy.) Seeing Logan's expression of possessiveness, the boy got a slightly fearful look and pushed the truck faster. Not to be outdone by one who has walked longer than he, Logan toddles as fast as he can, all the while, a look of fierce determination on his face as he keeps his eyes on the truck.
We continued our walk around the pool, following the beloved fire truck. Just beyond where the photo ends on the right, the little boy driving the truck decided to hop in the pool. I don't think he realized Logan was still following. Had he known, he probably would have held onto the truck for dear life. As it was, our son reached the truck and immediately set about playing with it for the next 10 minutes. Several times, he tried to go klepto and stick the truck with our things, which happened to be just off to the side of where the truck was left.
It was pretty amusing to me, watching Logan and quietly chuckling at his tenacious behavior. That was quite a long walk for one who's only been walking not even 2 weeks.

Quick update
I need to find our camera's cable. Once I do, I can nab the pictures taken lately and post them for you all! :) So, apologies for none with this post.
Very briefly...
Ava - grew 3.5" (which our doc said was 2 years growth) and only gained 4lbs. She's 44" tall and 42lbs. 3 shots - ouch!
Logan - grew 0" and gained 2lbs 10 oz. He's 30.5" and 23lbs 4oz. (Oh, his head got bigger - grew 1/2" and is now 19". I gotta stop telling him how handsome he is!) Doc isn't worried about the non-length gain - Logan is following his growth curve and hasn't dipped. He received 2 shots.
Ava has now been enrolled in Developmental Gymnastics at Kehler's Gym (which just happened to be on Fox news this morning!) She is loving gymnastics and asks nearly every day if it's the day to go. She's doing super and her teacher is impressed. Her current class's last day is the 17th. Her new class starts the following week.
Michaela will be doing soccer camp the week of June 23. 5 mornings. She is SUPER excited.
Our new carpet looks great. New windows are fabulous - already proving their worth by how nice they kept the house the past 2 days with the 80s temps. Today is a different story, but no window can tame humidity! New back door looks super, too.
Ok, the BIG news. We don't have a baby any more. Logan turned one last Wednesday (May 28) AND as of Sunday, has been walking a LOT. This morning, he even stood up on his own and took a few steps. He's actually getting halfway across our living room floor. Color me impressed. :)
That's about it. I'll try to video him walking for those who are far away. It's just about time to go pick up Michaela from school.
