The woman who owns The Dawg Joint (where I met the rescue) gave Molly a ball & bag of treats. Logan had picked out the ball. :) This afternoon, discovering she wanted to play while we were inside led to us running out back and playing with her. She had a blast retrieving the ball & dumping it at our feet - or on the side of the house.

Our Molly
Here she is, home!!

Adorable, huh? She's not as big as Wayne - I'd say maybe 60 lbs and not as tall as he is. Gentle, sweet, good-natured, and a big heart! She's adjusting to our house already - currently laying at my feet under my desk. I'm reminded of Lucky & my Dad with this picture... :)

And getting lovins from Ava:

New Family Member Today!!
So the kids are going to have a MAJOR surprise today!!! Well, the girls will. Logan is coming along with me. :) We discussed getting a dog last week. I did a ton of research on breeds, took about 20 dog breed selector quizzes, and read up as much as I could. We were going to go into this with full knowledge.
A process I thought would take at a minimum of a few weeks, most likely a month or two, ended up taking one week as of today. Crazy!!!
My search (I did the footwork since Mike works all day) led us to Molly, a 4 year old purebred black Lab. Poor Molly had to be given up because her mom & dad were going through a VERY nasty divorce. Molly is used to being around kids - mom has 4 & her foster family (mom's sister) has 6. She's a moderately active Lab (not a hyper high-energy one) and is a gracious 65lbs, give or take. For those of you who have met Wayne - his size. I asked a slew of questions about her, emailed back & forth with one of the women from the rescue and spoke to another woman from it on the phone. She sounded just right &, best of all, they approved us for adoption!!
Today, I meet Michele from Wag On Inn Recue (Oakhurst, NJ) at an Asbury Park grooming/dog supply store. Nice neutral location and one where they do adoption outreach. We'll meet at 10:30 with Molly so we can verify, for sure, she is the one for us. Barring her being completely opposite of all that I've learned, she'll be coming home with us then!
Here's the link to her write up on the rescue's site:
Molly
I'll update later! Oh yeah, and note the black & white theme... In honor of our black Lab! :) (I'm a dork, I know! LOL)

Rainy Days Make Mud Boys
I'll leave this short and sweet. He didn't just jump into every single puddle to and from Michaela's school. Nooooo... Not our boy. He JUMPED into every single puddle to and from school. Got home and played in more puddles - both jumping and splashing. Hence this face:

And then, the sisters come outside and decide to make "mud food". Along with eating said "mud food"... Oh wait, did I not mention that? Oh yes. He did. In fact, at one point, he stuck his mud covered finger out and I said, "Logan, don't eat that." He looked at me as if to say, "Oh foolish woman, why every would you think I would NOT put my mud covered finger in my mouth?" and then, while looking at me a tad bit defiantly, stuck the finger in his mouth. Getting back to the not so short and sweet story... He took his mud covered hand and swiped his face. Ummm... Laughing is not a good reaction, because it thrilled him and he did it again. And again... And again until this is the result:
